Why My Art Is So Expensive For You?
Hello, Liaksiej is here.
Today, I’d like to discuss a topic of significant importance.
Why do people who don’t understand my pricing policy find my paintings to be so expensive?
I consider this question to be of great significance to me. My artworks are priced neither cheaply nor extravagantly; they are reasonably priced. And nothing more.
In Short
For those seeking a concise summary, a quick rundown for you.
“Just because you’re not ready to purchase my painting doesn’t mean there aren’t other serious individuals who are interested in acquiring my artworks. To this day, an admirer of my artwork remains unaware of my existence and has yet to explore my online gallery. I am certain that this person will inevitably discover my Artworks and become familiar with my identity. I am persistently striving to make it a reality.”
I possess a strong determination that endures. I always ponder this idea, as my artistic purpose is directed towards the vast expanse of the future, transcending the constraints of time within my own existence.
“If my paintings are not acquired during my lifetime, they shall be acquired after my death.”
The primary enigma that captivates me is the total number of artworks I will have the privilege of creating in my lifetime. Furthermore, the elusive stroke of genius that I tirelessly pursue in my paintings remains a delightful mystery I eagerly seek with each passing day.
Hence, I am preoccupied with far weightier matters than pondering whether my paintings might appear excessively priced to certain individuals.
Now, let’s delve into the article in greater detail.
More Details
These are my short theses:
– I firmly believe that an artist possesses either the vulnerability to set a modest price for the sake of securing a guaranteed sale or the audacity to unapologetically declare the true value that resonates within their heart.
I am honest with myself and follow the guidance of my heart.
– If the painting appears pricey to you, yet you still hold admiration for it, perhaps you have yet to fully grasp its inherent value. In my opinion, true appreciation stems from recognizing the worth that transcends mere monetary considerations.
– I firmly believe that if you find both the painting and its price unsatisfactory, you have every right to offer a fair assessment and constructive criticism. However, this does not grant you the authority to impose your desires upon the author. To begin with, it is important to determine which of these two dissatisfactions is the primary factor that is causing irritation. By comprehending your motives, you can steer clear of baseless accusations against others in the future.
– I, as an author, like no one else, know what it costs me to create my artworks. The same principle applies to all artists. I hold great admiration for creators who value the timeless essence of their art above mere commercial success in the realm of selling paintings. Their dedication to the art is truly commendable.
– The price is not determined by the size of the painting. Although my Self-Portrait is smaller than that of any canvas I have, it still costs more than some of my other canvases.
– Disliking or not being ready to purchase my work does not make you a bad person. Contrary to what you may think, you hold great importance in my life. I greatly appreciate your constructive feedback and helping me spread the word about my work. It doesn’t demand your money, but rather your will, attention, and time. I deeply value and admire those who dedicate their time and attention to me!
– Considering the price of artworks, another crucial criterion emerges.
This is the criterion when I am sorry/not sorry to say goodbye to my painting.
If bidding farewell to a painting fills me with a tinge of regret, it signifies my genuine fondness for my own creation. I can only consider parting with this painting if the proposed price brings me peace of mind. This is the process through which I determine my pricing structure. My price serves as compensation for relinquishing ownership of this work, leaving me solely only as the legal author. It is the sole link that binds me to the artwork I have sold.
If I don’t have any sentimental attachment to the painting, I have two options. I can either categorize it as “not for sale” and keep it, or I can choose to exhibit the artwork at a significantly reduced price compared to my other favorite pieces.
Conclusion
I believe my prices are fair and reasonable.
I am confident that my works will undoubtedly find their buyer.
I am not primarily concerned with the price I assign to my paintings, but rather the legacy they will hold in the future, long after I am gone. The pivotal question for me lies in what I can accomplish during my lifetime, rather than the number of paintings I can sell.
As an artist, I am hesitant to assign a cheap price to my paintings in a way that guarantees their sale. I listen to my heart.
In my perspective, genuine appreciation arises from acknowledging the value that surpasses mere monetary considerations.
I strongly believe that if you find both the image and its price unsatisfactory, you are entitled to provide a fair evaluation and offer constructive criticism. Nevertheless, it does not confer upon you the prerogative to impose your own desires upon the author.
Your dislike or unreadiness to purchase my work does not diminish your worth as a person.
Currently, I believe I have covered the key aspects of pricing my artwork thus far. If there is a need for further clarification or additional points, I will address them in a subsequent article.
Thank you for your attention.
Kind regards,
